Instagram Rolls Out New Posting Feature Like Snapchat Stories

The Instagram and Facebook design teams have been busy and the latest update to the Instagram app now includes a new posting feature very similar to Snapchat’s stories.

You may remember that Facebook made an offer for around $3 billion USD in 2014 to purchase Snapchat, however the offer was rejected.

As a result we’ve seen Facebook and Instagram copy a few of Snapchat’s features – most noticeably photo filters.

Now we see Instagram roll out stories, which allow you to post photo updates that don’t show up in your profile grid, but rather create story like photos and videos that disappear after 24 hours.

There are a number of additional features including sticker overlays, writing and hand drawn squiggles/text.

Facebook and Instagram are not afraid to competitor good features by their competitors to keep their social media dominance, the question is what unique features will they come up with next?
